Solar Panels

Solar Panels are a fantastic way to help the environment by cutting your carbon footprint as they are one of many ‘green’ alternatives for generating energy. With many advantages of using solar panels such as cutting your electricity bills and getting paid for the electricity you generate, it’s easy to see why solar panels are becoming more common-place.

With proper care, your Solar Panels can last up to 25 years and although they need little maintenance they do need to be kept clean. Letting them get dirty with build up from things such as bird droppings, dirt and dust, pollen, tree sap, leaves or vehicle pollution can cause your panels to dramatically decrease in efficiency as the amount of electricity produced by a solar cell is proportional to the amount of light falling on it. Therefore, solar panel cleaning at least once a year is recommended for optimum performance to ensure you are making the most of your investment.

We only use Pure Water when cleaning which is very important as some manufacturers state that the use of chemicals on your solar panels can invalidate any warranty in place. Our telescopic poles allow us to safely reach the panels to clean them, without the need for ladders which could potentially cause damage to your property or the panels themselves.

FAQs

When is the best time to get solar panels cleaned?

For the best results the first clean should be at the start of spring as the days lengthen and the amount of sun reaching the panels increases.

Won’t the rain wash the dirt off the solar panels?

During the summer there may be long periods where it does not rain and the summer is when photovoltaics produce the most electricity. When it does rain some of the loose dirt is removed but more is deposited in its place. Some types of soiling such as that from birds will remain for many weeks and even months if they are not cleaned.
